What is Metamorphic Technique?
"Thousands who have experienced the technique affirm that life is never quite the same once you step onto the metamorphic path."
- Jane Alexander, The Daily Mail.

The Metamorphic Technique is a simple approach to self-healing and personal development.
It is not a therapy or a treatment, as it is not concerned with addressing specific symptoms or problems. There is no need for practitioners to know about your personal or medical history.
It is gentle, non-invasive and completely safe.
It can be used on it's own or in conjunction with other conventional medicine or alternative and complimentary therapies.
Due to limiting beliefs we have about ourselves and our lives, we tend to hold ourselves back from reaching our fullest potential. We get caught in patterns that limit us on physical, mental and emotional levels, often repeating patterns of behaviour that no longer serve us.
The Metamorphic Technique acts as a catalyst to access your own 'life force' to gently enable you to break out of these old patterns and transform on deep levels.
The Metamorphic practitioner uses a light touch on points on the feet, hands and head, known as spinal reflexes. It's origins lie in the work of naturopath and reflexologist Robert St.John who, during the 1960's, discovered that he could bring about significant changes in his patients by applying a light touch to particular points on the feet that reflexologists call spinal reflexes. His work was later continued by Gaston St. Pierre who studied extensively with St. John.
To quote St.Pierre "From the traditions of Eastern medicine to the new discoveries of science, it is generally acknowledged that energy or 'life force' underlies all forms of life. This is the basis for the Metamorphic Technique. It is now widely recognized that our energy can get 'stuck' in particular patterns. Every cell that makes up our bodies and minds holds memories of our experiences - not only from our childhood but going right back through time in the womb to the moment we were conceived. When an experience affects us strongly, the thoughts, emotions and beliefs connected to that memory can set up energy patterns in which we become stuck in the past. In a sense they keep us stuck in the past. These energy patterns can express themselves in a variety of ways, such as physical or mental illness, emotional problems, limiting attitudes and beliefs or repeating patterns of behaviour. In fact the Metamorphic Technique sees all mental, emotional, physical and behavioural "problems" as symptoms or expressions of energy patterns.
By using a light touch to the spinal reflex points on the feet, hands and head, the Metamorphic practitioner acts as a catalyst (something that 'precipitates' a process of change) to the person's life force.
The life force, guided by the person's innate intelligence, will then bring about whatever transformations of the energy patterns are needed. This enables the person to naturally shift those patterns that no longer serve them. The energy that was "caught" is released, freeing them up from the past influences and allowing them to let go and move forward. While the theory can initially seem quite difficult to grasp, it is not necessary to understand it to benefit."
HOW LONG DOES A SESSION LAST?
A session will generally last for about an hour.
Some people may wish to talk but it is not necessary. In fact quite often people will fall asleep as the technique is so relaxing.
The Metamorphic practitioner works in a detached way, this does not mean that they do not care, but simply that they will not seek to impose their will or make judgements on the person they are working on.
The idea of this technique is not to identify with symptoms no matter how severe they may appear to be. Robert St. John treated a child with Down's Syndrome and showed the childs mother how to do the technique, which she did weekly. He treated the child, without labeling her. By treating her in this way they were treating underlying patterns instead of treating a condition. She moved out of her Down's Syndrome pattern as a result. St. John would apparently say, "the more attention you give to your patterns, the less room they have to go away.
What to expect after a session
After a session a practitioner cannot predict what will happen as this depends on the individuals life force, which is, of course, unique.
People often feel energized or relaxed.
Sometimes they may experience past symptoms as their energy shifts, unblocking and bringing up old patterns. These shifts always seem to be within the tolerance level of the individual. It is as if their own innate intelligence knows exactly what is necessary and what can be coped with.
These changes can then lead to significant transformations and improvements in physical, emotional and mental health.
It is not uncommon for people to change jobs, houses and relationships as they find new inner strength within themselves.
How many sessions are needed
This is up to the person receiving the sessions.
Every one is different. Some people have regular weekly sessions, often just for the relaxation it brings them and for others they will have a session as and when they feel it is right for them.
Quite often people feel drawn to the technique in difficult times such as the loss of a loved one, an illness, divorce and so on. Sometimes when they have reached a 'crossroads' in their life or just feel stuck and stagnant.
They find the technique enables them to better cope with the issues that arise during these times.
